Based on the animated character from 'Cars', the special creation is sure to fetch big bucks at auction.

The Porsche 911 is an icon in its own right, but ever since Disney and Pixar released Cars as an animated car-based film, a whole new generation of kids have found appreciation for the car thanks to the character of Sally Carrera. And now Porsche is bringing it back to life, taking cues from the 996 model that inspired the original character and applying them to a modern 911 Carrera GTS. Best of all, a manual gearbox handles transmission duties.

Even if you don't care about the film that inspired this build, the details are certainly worth a closer look.

The project began in November 2021 with members of the original Cars team joining in. The one-off creation will be auctioned off by RM Sotheby's on Saturday, August 20, at Monterey Car Week. Proceeds will support young girls through Girls Inc. and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The car is based upon the 473-horsepower Carrera GTS, but Porsche's Sonderwunsch program has changed so much that it's almost unrecognizable as a GTS. Sally Carrera's pinstripe tattoo on her rear is even recreated here, with numerous other details requiring similar levels of care and hand application.

The unique color you see here is gorgeous, but it's meant to get chipped, as Porsche designer Daniela Milosevic says that the team wants this car to be driven, which is why it comes with a second set of Carrera Exclusive Design wheels mounted on a custom rack and intended for track use.

To match the Sally Blue Metallic paint, the interior has seen Chalk leather accented with Speed Blue and Chalk stitching. Elsewhere, Cars logos are seen on badges on the B-pillars, embossed elements on the door cards, and even on the wheels' valve caps. The steering wheel has another cool touch - Sally's 'Kachow!' catchphrase appears on the drive mode selector. Naturally, there's some carbon fiber evident too, while the wheels show a modern take on the iconic 'Turbo Twist' wheels first seen on the 993.

As is Porsche's custom, a special branded chronograph accompanies this one-off creation, with this a unique, one-of-one piece too. Created by Porsche Design and Pixar, the watch is constructed of titanium and a colored ring on the dial in Sally Blue Metallic and a Chalk-colored leather strap. A second leather strap in Speed Blue with Chalk decorative stitching is also on offer. On the case back, the limited edition '001/001' numbering appears.

The winning bidder will also get a bespoke indoor car cover, the original color molds used to finalize the car's paint, the show plates, a special book charting the design and development of the car with images of its build process, and a selection of original sketches by Porsche designer Suichi Yamashita and Pixar's Cars Production Designer Bob Pauley.

We never thought the day would come when we sorely desire a car based on an animated film, but here we are. Somebody lend us a few hundred grand.

Originally handling reviews of new cars, his love of the technical led to writing detailed blog posts on various aspects of car care and ownership.
